Education
SaltPeter Trust have been able to fund the education of around 20 children since 2006, thanks to the generosity of a UK based sponsorship programme. Ten of them have made it to or through tertiary education. Michael graduated in Development Studies in 2015 and now works for the Charity full time, and with Winnie now has land, livestock and crops and has started a family. Tom has completed his accountancy studies, is married with a family and works for a Credit Union in Kumi. James has worked as a Techer for a number of years, and is currently continuing his studies in Administration at the University in Mbale. Immaculate studied Accountancy, has been working for SaltPeter Trust for several years and plans to marry in 2019. John completed his University degree in fisheries, and is working as a teacher in a local Vocational School, saving for land and a dowry to allow him to marry. Jimmy is midway through a course in automotive engineering at University in Kampala. Okanya Charles completed A levels in 2018, and started a degree in Education at Livingston University in Mbale studying to become a teacher. He lost his mother & father as a young lad and his progress has been remarkable. The Treforgan WI in Morganstown have funded a course for Sarah, our loyal nurse from Soroti, and she plans to return to Sororti Baptist Medical Centre in mid 2019 as a Comprehensive Nurse. Angella, another loyal nurse from Soroti Baptist Medical Centre is on a part time course working towards a Medical Recordkeeping. Charie left school in his teens in 2004 when captured by the LRA. He escaped, and has been working as a storeman at Soroti Baptist Medical Centre. He returned to school in 2018 to take his O Levels, and is working towards a medical qualification, possibly pharmacy. Several others have progressed to S4 at school before leaving to follow vocational courses. |
